Understanding the Environmental Impacts of AI

Tuesday 15 September 2026 – 3.00pm to 4.00pm BST

Led by Professor Chris Preist from the University of Bristol

How do the environmental impacts of individual AI systems influence the bigger picture?

In this session, Professor Preist will connect research on the environmental life cycle impacts of AI with the wider drivers of environmental and energy demand at a global level.

Exploring digitisation trends, AI adoption, and future scenarios, Chris will examine what these developments could mean for the future and the choices we make today.

There will be a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.
