Women in Tech

Empowering women across the public sector to build skills, grow confidence, expand their networks and thrive in digital, data, and technology careers.

Get Tech Certified is a UK public sector initiative offering free digital and technology learning pathways and opportunities to gain recognised certifications, from Beginner through to Advanced level.

As part of Get Tech Certified 2026, our dedicated Women in Tech strand brings together learning, events, resources and opportunities to connect, designed to support women across the public sector to build their skills and develop their careers.

Why Women in Tech Matters

Sonia Patel
“
Programmes like Get Tech Certified play an important role in creating opportunities for everyone. I’m particularly pleased to see the addition of the Women in Tech opportunities this year, helping more women across government access learning, build confidence and develop the skills they need to progress their careers.
Sonia Patel, Chief Technology Officer, Government Digital Service (GDS)

Research published by the Women in Tech Taskforce in July 2026 highlights that women remain underrepresented across the technology workforce and continue to face barriers to entering, progressing and remaining in technology careers.

The findings highlight that access to skills development, mentoring, networks, and inclusive workplace cultures are among the most important factors in helping women enter, progress, and lead in technology careers.
